About My Monsters

In My Monsters, you’re cast as a Traveller. An external embodiment of yourself within the painterly world of the game. You’ll control their monster-like companion, Moti, from a third-person perspective, but also directly interact with the world as the Traveller. Together, you and Moti will journey across the fantastical realm of Onirium. You’ll be challenged with defeating enemies in combat, overcoming obstacles with platforming, and solving puzzles. As you progress, Moti will face the forces of Anxiety, Fear, and Loneliness and learn to overcome personal conflict.

Every asset you see in the game, from the landscapes to Moti himself, has been hand-painted in the Quill VR software. The result is a world unlike any other in VR (except maybe Ludact’s previous title, Unbinary) with jaw-dropping landscapes and a series of interesting characters.

My Monsters Review

Prior to its Meta Quest and PC VR debut, My Monsters has been receiving significant praise. The unique art style has of course been discussed at length, but underneath lies a game worth exploring.

Our friends over at 131XR delivered a My Monsters review highlighting that the combat in particular needs some work. But what could also be seen as a curse is actually a blessing: My Monsters is in its element when its casually distracting. Within each stage there’s a path set before you; an entrance and an exit. However, it’s the game’s ability to challenge your preconceived ideas on what may be the correct route between them that really makes the game stand out.

My Monsters Meta Quest & PC VR Launch

Ludact’s My Monsters is available now on Meta Quest platforms and PC VR via Steam. The game is single-player only, and is priced at $19.99 USD. There’s currently no word on a potential PSVR 2 edition of the game. Which honestly is a shame, as the PSVR 2 is currently a platform ripe for the picking for unique titles such as My Monsters.
