Starlight Games has announced a new putt at taking the VR golfing crown, House of Golf VR. While there’s already plenty of golfing games available for Meta Quest headsets, House of Golf VR has a unique twist in it’s bag: using MR to allow you to create your own courses in your real-world living space.

What is House of Golf VR?

House of Golf VR is, as you would expect, a golfing game in VR. You’ll step into vibrant VR courses filled with tricky obstacles, colourful themes, and unique challenges. Along the way, you can discover mystery boxes with unique golf balls to personalise your game. The game will offer gameplay modes from quick casual rounds to chasing that perfect hole-in-one.

However, Starlight Games has chosen not to focus so much on the VR element of the game. Instead, the developer’s communications have centred on the MR element of the game.

House of Golf VR with MR

Starlight Games transforms any space into a personalised mini-golf adventure. Using MR functionality, the game blend physical and virtual worlds by allowing players to create their own mini-golf courses in their real-world surroundings. The game offers hundreds of course pieces, hazards, and whimsical items, from mechanical cranes to hot air balloons, for you to design your own mini-golf experience anywhere. Every course can be recorded, photographed, and shared with the community.

House of Golf VR is all about playful innovation,” said Gary Nichols, CEO at Starlight Games. “We’ve created something truly special a game that gives players the tools to bring their imagination to life, whether that means turning their living room into a golf course or escaping into our beautiful VR world.”

House of Golf VR will be available on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and 3S from 30th October 2025. The perfect game for the spooky season?

The Competition

Of course, no discussion of a new VR golf game would be complete without mentioning the competition. Walkabout Mini Golf is a hugely popular golf game in VR, and widely considered one of the best mini‑golf experiences on Meta Quest. It features multiple 18‑hole courses (including DLC courses), each with a “Hard Mode” version that adds more challenge. The game also has excellent physics, collectibles (custom balls, hidden items), treasure hunts, and a strong social component: you can play solo, quick match 1v1, or up to eight players in a private room. Then we also have the likes of Ultimate Swing Golf and Golf+.
