AstroBeam has today launched its debut title, Stellar Cafe, for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. Stellar Cafe is the first VR game built around authentic, unscripted conversations using large language models (LLMs) to interpret your voice and generate real-time responses from human-crafted NPCs.

It was almost two years ago that XRSource reported on former Owlchemy Labs CEO Devin Reimer leaving the studio to form AstroBeam. At the time, Reimer said the studio was going to focus on VR multiplayer. However, the team has now revealed its first game, a single-player, AI-powered title that’s all about having conversations with robots. Called Stellar Cafe, it’s coming to Meta Quest this year.

If there’s one game almost all VR fans are likely to have played its Job Simulator. Created by Owlchemy Labs back in 2016, the game still appears on PSVR’s monthly download charts. At the helm of the studio was co-founder and former CEO/CTO Devin Reimer, who left and has now announced his latest venture, AstroBeam. This is a new studio dedicated to VR multiplayer.
