Earlier this year ILM announced its next VR project, once again tapping the vast universe that is Star Wars. Known for titles like Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, this next game makes use of mixed reality. Called Star Wars: Beyond Victory – A Mixed Reality Playset (a bit of a mouthful), this action adventure is set to hit Meta Quest headsets in October.

What is Star Wars: Beyond Victory?

Set during the Reign of the Empire era – for all you fans keen on the chronology – Star Wars: Beyond Victory delivers an original story based around Star Wars: Episode 1’s podracing. This narrative is delivered during the ‘Adventure Mode’, where players step inside the boots of Volo Bolus, an new pilot mentored by podracing legend Sebulba. Mixing between VR and mixed reality, you’ll be able to race, get hands-on with maintaining your podracer and more.

“This experience is designed to celebrate storytelling, action, imagination and everything we love about Star Wars,” said Jose Perez III, Director of Star Wars: Beyond Victory. “We wanted to give players a new way to step inside the galaxy and make it their own.”

Furthermore, Star Wars: Beyond Victory will feature an ‘Arcade Mode’ and a ‘Playset Mode’. Arcade Mode throws you straight into classic podracing action, whilst the Playset Mode is a dynamic sandbox featuring unlockable digital figures, vehicles and tools.
