Independent VR studio The Binary Mill has officially launched their highly anticipated next title. The tense co-op sci-fi survival experience, Into Black is available now on PCVR and PSVR 2. The game made its debut on Meta Quest last year, and has undergone a significant overhaul for PC and PlayStation 5.

What is Into Black?
Built from the ground up for VR, Into Black blends mining, crafting, and fast-paced combat with exploration and atmosphere. Light and shadow aren’t just visual flourishes. They are the tools of survival, shaping every tense encounter.
Players can venture underground solo, or share the full campaign in up to four-player online co-op. You can also take on side directives, master traversal and combat challenges, and test their skills in Singularity, the game’s PvPvE mode.
Key Features
“We’ve been blown away by the early response to Into Black,” said Jason Spencer, Community Manager at The Binary Mill. “Hearing players and critics describe it as one of VR’s most immersive survival experiences has been hugely rewarding – and today, we can’t wait for the wider community to descend into the darkness together.”
The Binary Mill has detailed some of the upgrades that have gone into this new version of the game. These are listed below, verbatim from the source:
- Remastered Environments – Every hand-crafted cave has been meticulously upgraded with enhanced geometry, water, new details, and richer textures for a deeper, more atmospheric world.
- Dynamic Real-Time Shadows – Now featuring full real-time shadows, from the flickering glow of your torch in single-player to the chaotic interplay of lights and shadows in multiplayer.
- Performance & Fidelity – 90Hz gameplay on PS5, with 120Hz support on PS5 Pro, plus eye-tracked foveated rendering.
- Total Immersion – Full headset vibration, adaptive triggers, and controller haptics make every encounter tactile.

Into Black PCVR Options
As stated above, Into Black original launched for Meta Quest. Given the additional power of the PC and PlayStation 5 platforms, The Binary Mill has made significant upgrades to the game for this subsequent rollout. XRSource has already detailed the PSVR 2 version of Into Black, but there’s also a number of new features on PC. These include discrete control over render scale, shadows, lighting, water quality and more to maximize your gaming experience.
Into Black is available now worldwide on PSVR 2 via the PlayStation Store and on SteamVR for PCVR. Will you be diving into darkness this weekend? Let us know in the comments below!
