After the success of 2019’s The Exorcist: Legion VR, publisher Fun Train released several titles, including Tarzan VR. But the company never forgot its roots, and planned a follow-up called The Exorcist: Legion VR: SIN. However, due to the difficulties of VR development, SIN and its multiplayer survival horror gameplay will never see the light of day.

What was The Exorcist: Legion VR: SIN?
The Exorcist: Legion VR was a single-player, episodic horror adventure. Set within The Exorcist universe, the game puts you in the shoes of a detective investigating paranormal cases. There were five interconnected stories to play through, providing plenty of tense, atmospheric scares along the way.
SIN – short for Safety in Numbers – looked to expand upon that premise. Most importantly, by adding a multiplayer/co-op component. Fun Train had teamed up with Pocket Money Games – the studio behind Twilight Zone VR – to create the survival horror, with SIN initially announced in 2022 for multiple VR headsets. Apart from the odd screenshot, very little was ever shown of SIN, with release dates in late 2022 and late 2023 coming and going.
What happened to SIN?
It seems as though The Exorcist: Legion VR: SIN has had a very rocky development. It never bodes well when a game goes quiet for a year or more, and that’s definitely the case here.
In a statement, Fun Train CEO Douglas Nabors said:
“This isn’t easy to share, but we’ve decided to put SIN on hold indefinitely. VR is moving rapidly toward casual and free-to-play games, and right now big, premium titles carry too much commercial risk in this climate. We’ve already poured a lot into SIN, but we can’t deliver it at financially reasonable level without making significant compromises—and we’d rather pause than release something that doesn’t live up to our vision and your expectations.
“We may resume SIN in the future if the timing is right or if we find another partnership, but for now it will not be moving forward.”
Those F2P games Nabors mentions will include the likes of Gorilla Tag and Animal Company, both enjoying huge success on Meta Quest currently.
What’s next for Fun Train?
The news certainly doesn’t mean the end of Fun Train’s involvement in VR, quite the contrary. The Exorcist: Legion VR is still set to receive new updates and improvements. And further ports are planned to support future headsets.
Furthermore, BlackGate, its upcoming sci-fi multiplayer horror game, is scheduled for release on 2nd October 2025 for Meta Quest and SteamVR headsets.
