Hidden Memories of the Gardens Between has today launched on VR headsets. Both PC VR and Meta Quest players can get in on the action with this unique and expanded VR iteration of developer The Voxel Agents’ award-winning puzzle-based adventure The Gardens Between.

The Gardens Between is a phenomenally popular adventure/puzzle video game which debuted in September 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It later saw ports to Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and mobile platforms. However, a VR port was never an inevitability. The team at The Voxel Agents however, clearly have an interest in the medium, as Hidden Memories of the Gardens Between isn’t just a simple VR port. Instead, we have an expanded and revised edition of the game for VR headsets.
The game conveys its story through visuals and gameplay rather than dialogue or narration. You’ll be joining two children, Arina and Frendt, on an adventure in a treehouse which sits in a garden between their houses. In a dreamscape, they progress through sets of island levels, each representing different shared experiences.
Along the way you’ll be solving puzzles while reminiscing over an emotional tale full of the duo’s formative moments. Hidden Memories of The Gardens Between takes place two decades after the original story, as Frendt prepares for another move. Upon a mysterious encounter packing boxes, Frendt returns to the world of The Gardens Between. Now guided by the entries in Ariana’s enchanted diary, fans and newcomers alike can indulge in this charming story from a fresh perspective.

In Hidden Memories of The Gardens Between, you’ll use the VR motion control to manipulate time and space with hand gestures. More than 40 new bespoke puzzles have been designed for this new input method, each unlocking core memories to illuminate constellations which guide a bittersweet narrative.
Some of these puzzles will have you grabbing a paintbrush to create art, or piecing together beads to form friendship bracelets, and stacking toy parts, watching as they come alive. If this doesn’t sound like a wholesome VR experience to you, we’re not entirely sure what will.
