A couple of months ago, Microids, the studio behind The Smurfs – Flower Defense made a quiet VR announcement. Announcing a remastered version of puzzle adventure classic Syberia (2002), Microids also mentioned a Meta Quest 3 version was in the works. Not much else was detailed, but now we have a Syberia VR trailer to enjoy.

What is Syberia?
Syberia was a point-and-click game by Benoît Sokal. Players step into the shoes of Kate Walker, a New York lawyer thrown into the middle of an unexpected journey across Europe. Following in the footsteps of Hans Voralberg, she encounters memorable characters in melancholy and mysterious settings. The original game was known for its visual poetry, spellbinding storytelling and dreamlike exploration, garnering a cult fanbase.
For Syberia VR, Microids is overhauling the game for Meta Quest. While the initial announcement was devoid of screenshots and gameplay details, the new Syberia VR trailer gives a far clearer indication of the gameplay. Players will be immersed in some fantastic scenery, gorgeous landscapes filled with Victorian/Steampunk-style technology and buildings. As for the puzzles, thankfully, motion controls do seem to be employed alongside smooth locomotion.
“Syberia is much more than a game – it’s an initiatory journey, an unforgettable sensory and emotional experience. With this remaster, we want a new generation to rediscover this adventure, while offering historical fans a sublimated version respectful of Benoît Sokal’s legacy,” said Elliot Grassiano, founder of Microids, in a statement.
