Following a successful launch on SteamVR earlier this year, Korpi Games is planning to bring Virtual Hunter to new formats. Both PSVR 2 and Meta Quest will get in on the Virtual Hunter action “soon.”

Virtual Hunter: The Story so Far

Virtual Hunter, the highly acclaimed VR hunting simulator, is billed as an “authentic hunting experience”. The PC VR edition of the game was heralded for its “unparalleled realism, expansive freedom, and deliberate pacing”.

Virtual Hunter transcends the typical hunting game, offering an immersive outdoor adventure with a respectful approach towards hunting and nature. Soon, a new wave of players on PSVR 2 and Meta Quest platforms will have the opportunity to stalk their prey with their preferred weapon. Or, should you prefer, to simply wander the vast, meticulously crafted terrain.

Virtual Hunter Gameplay

According to developer Korpi Games, Virtual Hunter has been built around the principles of careful observation, patience, and learning the land. As enthusiastic Steam players have noted:

“The game really starts to shine when you unlock the bow and the callers. I was so satisfied with my first couple bow kills—and as an archery hunter in real life, it came very naturally on the realistic bow setting.”

With full day-night cycles, expansive terrain, and realistic animal behaviour, players are free to shape each hunt their way. Some players even report spending more time exploring than hunting:

“The map is huge, and honestly, I’ve spent more time just wandering around checking everything out than actually hunting.”

Virtual Hunter features many unique gameplay experiences. Of course, you can track red deer, fallow deer, red fox, roe deer, wild boar, pheasant and European hare, all with unique behaviors and senses. You’ll choose from a range of firearms including bolt-action rifles, a double-barreled shotgun, and a pistol. But more than this, you’ll unlock specialised tools like the recurve bow and animal callers for a deeper, more strategic hunting experience.

With a massive open world, the landscape features hidden valleys, dense forests, and mountain trails in a map designed for freedom and exploration. All of which can be ventured through in a party of up to six players. Then there’s the Trophy Lodge to return to after, which has been decidedly well received by players.

PSVR 2 & Meta Quest Launch

With its upcoming release on PSVR 2 and Meta Quest, Virtual Hunter will bring a new approach to hunting for a new wave of players. The game is developed by Korpi Games and will be published by VRKiwi.

However, at present we have no confirmed release date for Virtual Hunter on PSVR 2 and Meta Quest. Korpi Games stated ‘soon’ in their announcement, but then only offered 2025.
