Following its debut on Meta Quest back in 2023 and a PSVR 2 debut last year, Sushi Ben is finally making its way to Steam. A narrative-driven VR adventure, the game blends storytelling with immersive interaction. Developed by Big Brane Studios, Sushi Ben is their debut title which sees a quirky seaside town fight against greedy landsharks threatening a beloved local sushi bar.

Sushi Ben: Manga Meets VR

At its core, Sushi Ben is a slice-of-life adventure wrapped in manga-inspired visuals. 3D comic panels pop into your environment, transforming your surroundings into an interactive storybook. The game’s visual storytelling approach borrows cinematic language and stylised pop-ups to make you feel like the story’s hero. Whether you’re fishing at the dock, taking ghostly snapshots, or walking a neighborhood dog, every activity weaves into the fabric of the town’s heartfelt narrative.

Players will explore Kotobuki Town, a charming and colorful setting filled with memorable, fully voiced characters. The game’s writing comes from none other than Moa, the creator behind Hatoful Boyfriend, the pigeon-dating sim that stole hearts around the world. This time, Moa brings that same quirky, emotional energy to a new cast of townsfolk — and yes, you might even spot a familiar feathered face.

Sushi Ben is packed with varied activities beyond the main story. You’ll be fishing, playing table tennis, photography, ghost hunting, and even petting a frog named Maru. These minigames and side quests provide a cozy break between story chapters and deepen your connection to the town and its people.

Meta Quest, PSVR 2, PC VR & Flatscreen

As stated above, the game debuted on Meta Quest back in 2023. Later followed ports for PSVR 2 and PICO. PC VR players however, have been left out in the cold. That is, until later this year. The PC VR version of Sushi Ben is set to launch in September 2025. But that’s not all…

There’s also a flatscreen version of Sushi Ben currently in development. A demo is available to download via Steam now. A PlayStation 5 version hasn’t yet been confirmed, but is expected to follow soon after the launch of the PC version.

Sushi Ben PC Launch Plans

As stated above, the full version of Sushi Ben will launch on PC VR in September. This will be priced at $24.99 USD. If you have already purchased the game on the Meta Horizon Store, you will also receive access to the PC/Rift version via the Oculus PC App.

There’s currently no confirmed release date for the flatscreen edition of Sushi Ben. However, it’s likely to be around the same time as the PC VR edition.
