German developer Cybersnake-X has announced the Early Access version of Plasmaborne is now out for Meta Quest. According to the studio, Plasmaborne is an ‘intense VR action roguelike inspired by classics like DOOM and modern hits like Hades‘. Well, that certainly sounds like an interesting combination.
To Hell and Back
Given the title’s influences, the symbolism and the dark red hue over all of the visuals, you would imaging that the game takes place in hell. However, according to the plot synopsis from Cybersnake-X, that’s apparently not the case:
“Step into the role of a tech-warrior, battling through the forsaken lands where every encounter tests your reflexes, tactics, and grit. As you fight, strange patterns emerge – hints of a deeper force behind the conflict, waiting to be uncovered by those who persevere.”
Plasmaborne Gameplay
In Plasmaborne, you’ll carve your path through handcrafted battlefields packed with relentless enemies. As the tech-warrior, you’ll wield a brutal mix of futuristic guns, demonic melee weapons, and devastating magic. Between fights, you’ll be able upgrade your arsenal and unlock new abilities to forge your perfect build. So yeah, a DOOM style roguelike.
Plasmaborne has been designed for pure, fast-paced fun with deep replayability. The game most certainly leans on the boomer-shooter side of things. As Cybersnake-X puts it, ‘classic shooter gameplay meets roguelike progression’.

Plasmaborne Meta Quest Launch
Plasmaborne is available for Meta Quest now, as an Early Access title. The game is priced at $17.99 USD. There’s no word on how long the Early Access period for the game will last, nor if there will be any price change for the full version.
For many, it may seem as though Plasmaborne has come out of nowhere. There’s been very little fanfare in the build-up to this Early Access launch. However, digging a little deeper, it turns out that this title was originally known as Tech Warrior.
On Cybersnake-X’s wildly out of date website, you can see this exact game listed under a different title. Plans for DLC and many more features are listed here, though exactly what is still on the cards is not known.
