The Meta Quest edition of Hard Bullet has been a long wait for fans. The game launched for PCVR via SteamVR back in 2020. That’s five whole years of engaging in furious, fast-paced combat on PC before standalone VR gamers got in on the action. But now, the Meta Quest version has arrived, and 131XR deliver a review of Hard Bullet to see if it can live up to expectation.

What is Hard Bullet?

Hard Bullet is a physics-based action game. Set in a series of combat arenas, enemies flood the neon-lit city bringing destruction to its streets. You’ll use a huge arsenal of weaponry, melee combat and slow-motion to survive each ‘Ride’, and in doing so earn currency to unlock new weapons. It’s a simplistic game at best, but one that’s entirely designed to make you feel like an action hero. Heavily inspired by the films of John Woo, Hard Bullet is a game less about challenge and more about looking cool.

Hard Bullet Review

In 131XR’s Hard Bullet review (below), we learn that the Meta Quest 3S edition of the game stands up as a fun, ridiculous experience. Similar to the likes of GORN 2, it’s a game about taking the fight to the enemy and dispatching them in some frankly ludicrous ways. Gun run out of ammo? Throw it at the enemy! Outnumbered? Grab their weapon straight out of their hand! See that katana on the wall? You know what to do…

As enjoyable as this all sounds – and it is – sadly, Hard Bullet on Meta Quest is clearly outclassed by its PCVR predecessor. Some of the flaws highlighted in 131XR’s Hard Bullet review include the fundamentally flawed enemy AI and the accuracy of weaponry. You can learn all about it in the video below!

Developed by GexagonVR

Hard Bullet has been developed by GexagonVR, a studio with a healthy reputation in VR development. Other titles from the studio include QBike: Cyberpunk Motorcycles and the well received Nevrosa series. The Meta Quest edition of Hard Bullet is the latest release from the studio.

The PCVR edition of Hard Bullet remains listed as an Early Access title, while the Meta Quest edition does not. We believe this is likely an oversight, and both editions will receive continuous updates in the near future. Indeed, since launch, the Meta Quest edition has already received a bug fixing patch.
