Back in January, Italian studio Singular Perception released the enchanting VR adventure Epyka for Meta Quest. Soon, it’ll be the turn of PSVR 2 fans to explore this vibrant world. Epyka is due for release on PSVR 2 next week!

The Epyka story

A family-friendly adventure where players are aided by their four-legged friend Jack, they travel the world to uncover centuries-old secrets. They take on the role of archaeologist Scott Hudson, who is searching for Earth’s first civilisation. Drawn to an undiscovered island shrouded in mystery, here, Scott and Jack find a place humming with ancient magic and a looming threat that endangers humanity.

A mixture of sunlit beaches, shadowy caves, and volcanic depths, Epyka is filled with locations to discover and puzzles to solve. The puzzles are built around mystical powers and subtle environmental cues, and don’t forget about Jack, as your canine companion can help overcome many challenges.

PSVR 2 Improvements

As most developers tend to do when porting a VR game to PSVR 2, they get to utilise all of its unique features. This is especially so when the original game was designed for the more underpowered Meta Quest.

Singular Perception has confirmed that Epyka will feature a 120Hz refresh rate and enhanced texture resolution – doubling Quest’s resolution. Furthermore, the visuals will be enhanced with vibrant colours and deep contrasts with HDR support, in addition to post-processing effects like bloom. And let’s not forget about the eye-tracked foveated rendering, to maintain the best visual quality wherever you look.

Epkya will also make use of PSVR 2’s headset haptic feedback and the Sense controllers’ haptics, adding that extra layer of immersion. And for those trophy hunters, there’s an exclusive collection to earn, including a Platinum.

Epyka PSVR 2 Launch

PSVR 2 puzzle fans won’t have long to wait as Epyka arrives next week. The game is scheduled to launch on Thursday, 5th June, retailing for a bargain $10.49 USD.

Can it compete with the Best VR Puzzle Games? You’ll have to wait to find out. If you’ve played the Quest version, let us know what you thought in the comments!
