Creators of Survival Nation and Elven Assassin, Wenkly Studio, have announced their latest project, Frost Survival VR. There’s already a tropical island themed survival game in VR, and also a prehistoric game coming soon. So why not try your wits in freezing temperatures, too?
What is Frost Survival VR?
Set in an ice-covered wilderness, Frost Survival VR challenges players to survive against harsh conditions. After a series of unfortunate events, players find themselves isolated from the rest of the world and must rely on their wits to survive. Resources are limited, and the weather is not your friend.
Players will need to gather resources, build shelters, and also manage their sanity. Along the way, you’ll have to craft many different items that are needed for survival. Tools, weapons, and clothing are simply fundamentals of surviving the wilderness. Unlike the Wenkly Studio’s previous title, Survival Nation, this game is not an RPG with NPCs and quests. Instead, it offers complete freedom, allowing players to shape their survival journey, whether solo or teaming up with others in cooperative multiplayer.
How is it Different from Other Survival Games?
With the survival game genre rapidly growing in popularity in VR, you would be right to ask what makes this game different. We’re all familiar with the sandbox survival, and even cooperative multiplayer in these worlds. Of course, crafting is by-the-by. So what makes Frost Survival VR standout from the crowd?
One of the key features highlighted by Wenkly Studio is that of the Sanity System. You must manage your mental state, as isolation and extreme conditions take their toll. Exactly how this will play out in the game is not currently known, but it certainly sounds intriguing.
Frost Survival VR Launch Plans
No specific release date has yet been announced for Frost Survival VR. However, the game is already available for wishlist on Meta Quest and Steam. The latter of which simply offers 2025 as a date, so at least we know it’s coming this year.
