Besiege VR was announced for Meta Quest earlier this month, and was met with a welcoming response. Developed by 3R Games, the studio behind the hit Thief Simulator VR: Greenview Street, and supported by original creators Spiderling Studios, Besiege VR offers a fully reimagined experience designed specifically for VR. And if you’re excited by that, letting the developers know will net you some exclusive pre-order bonuses.
What is Besiege VR?
Besiege is a critically acclaimed sandbox war game. It’s a creative playground, in which players can build war machines and take them into battle. The game launched in 2020, and developed a strong fanbase in the five years between Early Access release and that official launch. Now, the VR port aims to satisfy both new and existing fans of the game with cross-compatibility.
The game has been rebuilt from the ground up for Meta Quest. The game aims to deliver a thrilling new dimension of creativity, chaos, and destruction in VR. And for fans of the original game, most of the constructions made on the desktop will be available to port into VR.
“Besiege VR takes everything we love about the original game and supercharges it for VR,” says Piotr Surmacz, CEO of 3R Games. “From redesigned 3D sound and haptic feedback to an entirely new interface built for intuitive VR construction, we’ve rebuilt this world so players can crush, blast, and build like never before.”
Pre-Order Bonuses
Players who pre-order Besiege VR ahead of launch will receive an exclusive DLC pack featuring four unique machine skin sets. These limited-edition skins allow players to stand out on the battlefield with personalised flair as they unleash medieval mayhem with their own custom-built siege engines.
According to 3R Games, these skin sets will only be available to early supporters and never to be sold separately. In fact, the official press release mentions this exclusivity no less than four times. They’re obviously pretty keen on making that clear.
Besiege VR Meta Quest Launch Details
Besiege VR is set to launch on Meta Quest in May 2025. No specific date has yet been announced. The game will be priced at $19.99 USD. This will contain the base game content from the PC version with full VR optimisation. Additional content packs from the PC edition will not be included at launch.
“Playing Besiege in VR is an entirely new way to experience the game,” says Stefan Metaxa, Commercial Director at Spiderling Studios. “You truly feel the scale of your machines in first person – and we can’t wait to see what kind of insane contraptions the VR community creates.”
