Mixing tech and fashion is no easy task yet Meta and Ray-Ban’s current collaboration is still going strong. The companies have recently announced that a limited edition version of their Ray-Ban Meta Smartglasses is due to be released. Sporting a translucent design no less.

A translucent return

The current generation of Ray-Ban Meta Smartglasses has been available for a couple of years now. And in that time the two companies released a limited edition translucent design, with only 7,500 pairs available worldwide.

These new glasses are set to be even more limited than the last. As spotted by TechRadar, a promo image on Meta’s website shows the number ‘0001/3600’ printed on the frames, suggesting the run will be limited to only 3,600 pairs. And you know what that’s means, a higher price.

Currently, neither Meta nor Ray-Ban have confirmed how much these new translucent smartglasses will cost. The standard clear designs go for $329, whilst the previous limited edition models went for $429. So don’t be too surprised if these new editions go for even more.

Unique fashion isn’t cheap.

What’s new?

So what else do we know about the stylish smartglasses? Well, not a great deal from the teasing imagery so far. Expect the specs to remain the same, with in-built cameras, AI functionality and more.

It’s the design that’s going to be the big selling point here. Considering the promotional material states that these will be “straight from the runway”, and A$AP Rocky is Ray-Ban’s new Creative Director, this limited edition run might be a little bit special. Expect them to sell out fast!

When and Where?

The launch will take place at some point during March. No official date has been revealed at this moment.

However, head on over to Meta’s Ray-Ban page and hit that ‘Notify me’ button to have a chance at buying a pair.
