Meta Quest 3 owners rejoice! The biggest game of the year (so far) has finally received its first patch. A brand new update for Alien: Rogue Incursion is available to download now, tackling – amongst other things – the strange blue hue that really hampered the horror element of the Meta Quest version of the game.

Alien: Rogue Incursion on Meta Quest 3
Alien: Rogue Incursion launched on PlayStation VR 2 and PC VR late last year. The game received significant praise at launch, leading to high hopes for the Meta Quest 3 edition of the game.
Said Meta Quest version arrived on 13th February, 2025, and sadly, was not as well received. While certainly a far from terrible experience, the weaker technical performance of the Meta Quest was laid bare for all to see. As you can see in 131XR’s Alien: Rogue Incursion review, the game is still hugely enjoyable, but certainly not as scary as its PS5 and PC brethren.
Alien: Rogue Incursion Update
This first update for Alien: Rogue Incursion hopes to fix some of those issues. Exactly what we’d hoped for! While the patch was initially expected a week ago, it’s certainly a case of ‘good things come to those who wait’.
Top of the bill in this update are two things: fog and blood. The colour and intensity of the fogging in the Meta Quest 3 version of Alien: Rogue Incursion has been altered to create a more atmospheric experience. Furthermore, the Xenomporphs have seen various fixes, including one specifically intended to deliver more believable animation. These are indeed important changes to the game.
And, while perhaps less important, having blood splattering in the game is certainly going to make for a more realistic experience!
