Become The Last Worker on PSVR 2 & Quest 2 in March

We live in an ever-increasingly automated society, where we buy goods online from warehouses staffed by fewer and fewer people. And that’s the exact premise for Wolf & Woods’ latest videogame The Last Worker. Albeit, in this narrative, you literally become The Last Worker, offering an eerie look at humanity’s future later this month.

The Last Worker is scheduled to arrive on 30th March across virtual reality (VR) and standard videogame platforms. There will be PlayStation VR 2, Meta Quest 2 and PC VR editions alongside PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S|X and PC.

Become The Last Worker physical-edition

In addition to a digital release, PS5 and Switch will also get the Jüngle Pronto physical edition. It’ll include a reversible sleeve, Jüngle stickers and a double-sided poster. Available through Amazon, the PS5 version will retail for £19.99 GBP/$24.99 USD/€24.99 EUR. Whilst the Nintendo Switch edition costs £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99.

The modern retail situation

The Last Worker takes a critical swipe at companies like Amazon, where protagonist Kurt is the sole human left in a vast warehouse owned by Jüngle. His only company is a robot named Skew (voiced by Jason Issacs).

“At the heart of it is the story of Kurt, someone who puts their job before everything else and we pick up as he, rather uncooperatively, is thrust into a scenario that requires him to take back control. From satisfying the daily quota, to moments of satire, stealth and a shootout, The Last Worker is always moving in a seamless flow of adventure and absurdist narrative,” said Ryan Bousfield, Creative Director at Wolf & Wood in a statement.

“Just as the pandemic has made us all dependent on home deliveries, it took us a whole pandemic to deliver this game,” writer, director Jörg Tittel, whose company, Oiffy, is also producing the game, adds. “We’ve often felt like Kurt, overworked, lonely and tired, with Skew reminding us that there will be fun and light at the end of this fulfilment centre. I hope you all make The Last Worker your next instant purchase.”
