If you want something doing right then it’s best to take your time and not rush it. And that’s exactly what Mighty Eyes is doing with its Wanderer remake. Titled Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, its original June launch date has now been pushed back to September.
The Mighty Eyes delay statement
“We knew Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate was an incredibly ambitious project when we set out on this journey. Not only have we rebuilt the game from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5 using our new next gen VRAF systems, we’ve also added a ton of new and exciting features.
“We want you to play the best, most polished version of the game, one that meets our vision and quality expectations. This means we need to spend a few extra months in development and we’ve made the difficult decision to move our launch to 12th September 2024.
“We haven’t taken this decision lightly and we know this news will be disappointing. We are confident this delay will ensure we can deliver the best gaming experience, one that’s worth the wait.
“In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks for some exclusive new gameplay footage and an epic new feature that will have you banging on for days.”
What is Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate?
Wanderer is a time-travelling adventure taking players to key points in history. They then have to solve escape-room-style puzzles utilising objects from that era with a little help from their AI watch buddy.
Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate takes this main premise and give everything an upgrade. From visuals to gameplay, everything is being reworked. Not only will it look prettier, there will be three all-new destinations to visit and generally larger worlds. Players will have full-body avatars and a greater range of locomotion such as swimming, jumping, crawling and climbing.
The future of Wanderer
So Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate is now slated to arrive for PSVR 2, Meta Quest and PCVR headsets on 12th September.
Additionally, the studio has confirmed work on a sequel! Called Wanderer 2: The Seas of Fortune, all we have for now is a title, a brief tease of a pirate flag and a date; 1750, Jamaica.
