The next installment in the Ghostbusters franchise Frozen Empire, is now available in cinemas. Tieing in with the release is the next update for nDreams’ Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, adding some frosty gameplay today.
As Ghostbusters will know, the original films took place in New York City. But recent instalments moved out of the Big Apple, with Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, in particular, moving to San Francisco. Just like Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the VR co-op experience heads back to NYC, with new narrative-infused missions that tie in with the movie.
Best of all, Dan Aykroyd reprises his role of Ray Stantz for the update, offering a guiding hand to players.
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
Just like in the movie, players will be facing off against a powerful new enemy, Frozen Empire’s villain, Garraka. They’ll have access to powerful new equipment as they deal with an assortment of new foes. Furthermore, players can choose new playable avatars with character skins of “Podcast,” “Lucky,” and “Lars”.
“The Frozen Empire update will be our biggest yet. Directly tied to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire that just released in theatres, we’re bringing Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord players to New York for the first time to answer Ray’s call for help,” said Jake Zim, Senior Vice President of Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures Entertainment. “Players will be able to visit the iconic Ghostbusters Firehouse, brought to life like never before through virtual reality.”
Built as a cooperative game – it still supports a single-player mode – Rise of the Ghost Lord allows four players to team up and go ghost hunting. To aid in this endeavour it wouldn’t be a Ghostbusters game without a few toys. Deploy remote turrets, ghost decoys, and the legendary Proton Pack.
The Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord Frozen Empire update is available today for Meta Quest and PSVR 2 platforms.
