JollyCo has launched a new Meta Quest game. This one’s a little different, though. While it’s launching on a range of VR headsets, Sugar Mess Jigsaw Puzzles is billed as an AR experience. A simplistic game, with an interesting use of the technology.
Sugar Mess Jigsaw Puzzles is a game where the assembling of classic jigsaws has been transferred to mixed reality (MR). The player can assemble unique hand-drawn illustrations, which are then collected into stories about cute characters. Exactly why JollyCo are promoting the game as an AR title over an MR one is not currently known.

Sugar Mess Jigsaw Puzzles Gameplay
You’ll assemble 3D puzzles and plunge into unique stories delivered solely by visual interpretation. Puzzle sets featuring colourful unique pictures are waiting within Sugar Mess Jigsaw Puzzles, should you have the know how to assemble them. Of course, as the game is aimed at families, we would expect a gentle introduction with simple puzzles, as can be seen in the images on this page. Hopefully however, JollyCo has seen fit to ramp up the difficulty in later stages. The puzzles range from nine to 64 pieces, so there is the possibility of some challenge for older players later on.
As you assemble puzzles and discover the adventures of inseparable friends, each set will tell a complete story from the magical world of Jolly Battle. This is the same universe as JollyCo’s other recent VR title, Sugar Mess. Sugar Mess is a family friendly VR FPS, so expect it to be much more action orientated than this title.
The game is available now for Meta Quest headsets. Specifically Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest Pro. The game supports both controllers and hand tracking, and is free to download.
