OVRDARK: a Do Not Open story Delayed

Nox Noctis has revealed a delay in the launch of OVRDARK: a Do Not Open story. Originally scheduled for release on PCVR this month, the game currently offers little more than a ‘coming soon’ release date. This situation is also mirrored in the upcoming PSVR 2 edition of the game.

OVRDARK: a Do Not Open story is set in the same universe as Nox Noctis’ popular Do Not Open. The original title saw players attempting to escape a house whilst dealing with a mysterious paranormal threat. The unique aspect of the experience was a clock ticking down without pause. You had to escape before the clock hit zero.

Do Not Open found strong popularity thanks to the randomness of each run. Each new game had a new house layout. Key objects would be in different locations. There were over 2,193, 360 different puzzle combinations, meaning each playthrough would be a different experience from beginning to end.

OVRDARK: a Do Not Open story

OVRDARK: a Do Not Open story is intended to bring new horrors and challenges to the world of VR as you step into the shoes of George Foster, a fearless investigator. You and your companion, Mike Goreng, venture into the mansion after the shocking events of the first game. However, what you encounter is far more sinister than anticipated.

As you delve into the dark depths of the mansion, you will face the malevolent presence of your former companion. He has now become a ruthless enemy. You must explore the sprawling mansion and solve twisted puzzles as you fight for your survival.

OVRDARK: a Do Not Open story was originally intended to launch on 9th February, 2024. However, that date has obviously now been passed, and there’s no sign of the game. Furthermore, the PSVR 2 edition was expected soon after launch of the device, and yet we currently only have a tentative ‘2024’ date.

Nox Noctis has offered the following comment on the delay: “

The release date for OVRDARK has been postponed to allow us to add the final touches. We are committed to delivering the best experience to ensure a high-quality and memorable journey. In the coming days, we will announce the new date, and we are truly looking forward to you trying and enjoying our game! We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your continued support.”
