Japenese developer MyDearest Inc. is well known for its narrative-rich VR titles like Tokyo Chronos and ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos. Its latest project with IzanagiGames, DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate arrived for Meta Quest headsets in 2022. This was followed by versions for PSVR 2 and even a flatscreen edition for Nintendo Switch. This week, MyDearest Inc. has revealed DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate – Dual Edition for Steam, playable with or without VR.
Just like the original version, DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate – Dual Edition is split across three episodes. It’s a murder mystery set in the futuristic Marine City. “Here, dreams are utilized to ensure crime is prevented before it even happens,” the synopsis explains. “When the founder of this so-called paradise is killed in an unprecedented, theoretically impossible incident, Special Supervisor Hal Scion is tasked with unravelling the mystery threatening to plunge the city into disaster.”
To VR or not to VR
For the first time on one platform, players will be able to choose whether they play the game immersed in VR or entirely via flatscreen. Either way, they are able to enjoy DYSCHRONIA‘s memory diving, stealth gameplay and well-crafted puzzles.
Memory diving allows players to delve into the past and alter reality to try to crack the impossible case. As you do so the investigation will get more dangerous, requiring a stealthy approach to situations. Thankfully, you’re not alone as you’re accompanied by Lily, your navigation robot. She is there to support you, helping you with useful advice should you get stuck.
This isn’t the only project MyDearest Inc. is working on. During September the developer unveiled Brazen Blade, an intense 3v3 multiplayer brawler.
DYSCHRONIA: Chronos Alternate – Dual Edition doesn’t have a Steam release date at the moment. It is merely slated for 2024.
