Earlier this Summer Vertigo Games (Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall) announced a surprising reboot. It was bringing back a classic ’90s videogame many probably don’t remember, The 7th Guest. Originally a single-player CD-ROM adventure, Vertigo Games has given it an immersive overhaul, with The 7th Guest VR out today for multiple platforms.
As the original featured full-motion video (FMV) characters, Vertigo Games has looked to emulate that experience. Using modern volumetric video capture the game features a cast of characters who appear as spirits. The mansion has also been faithfully recreated in 3D, fully explorable and eerier than ever. As players uncover the mysteries within, they discover increasingly difficult puzzles and dangers hidden in the shadows.
