Earlier this month, Paw Print Games announced that its upcoming game Border Bots VR was preparing for an imminent release. That launch was due to take place on 28th September for PSVR 2 and SteamVR headsets. Now the team has confirmed that Border Bots VR has been delayed until the new year to ensure a wider, multiplatform launch.

In an update on the Border Bots VR ‘X’ account, a statement explains the delay. “We’ve made the decision to move the release date for Border Bots VR to 8th February 2024. This is to ensure the game launches simultaneously on all our planned platforms, SteamVR, PSVR 2 and Meta Quest 2, so that all our players can experience the game at the same time.

“We apologise for any disappointment and look forward to sharing the game with everyone when it releases early next year.”

Getting stopped at the border

A joint effort between Paw Print Games, vTime Games and Team17, Border Bots VR is designed as a light-hearted look at the future. You play a human border agent operatingĀ a booth at an AI travel border. You’re on the lookout for suspicious robots who might be forged documents, are carrying contraband or are using undeclared modifications.

They need your stamp of approval to get through, and you have a range of gadgets to flush out individuals. You’ll need different tools for inspection including a 3D printer, Contraband Detector, Stun Gun, Barcode Scanner and much more. As you progress you’ll earn credits to do up your booth and your apartment.

In this type of job, you’ll also meet plenty of different personalities. You’ll come face-to-face with sentient appliances as well as more colourful types.

Border Bots VR will now arrive for Quest 2, PSVR 2 and SteamVR headsets on 8th February 2024. Looking forward to controlling the access points of a futuristic city? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
