Tokyo Game Show VR to Feature Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, Sega & More

There are only a couple of weeks to go until the annual Tokyo Game Show in Japan. One of the biggest events in the industry calendar, the past couple of years have also seen a growing VR component. While the physical show has a VR/AR area, there’s also an immersive online event called Tokyo Game Show VR (TGSVR). With the website now live, all the virtual exhibitors have been revealed including other features of the event.

For the third edition of TGSVR, the event will feature the following exhibitors:

  • Imaginary Game Studios
  • CAPCOM
  • CharacterBank
  • Gugenka
  • Groove Fit Island!!
  • KOEI TECMO GAMES

TGSVR 2023

Currently, there’s no indication regarding what the companies might be showcasing at the virtual event. We’d hope you hear more details from Survios regarding its current Alien project, and Schell Games will likely be promoting its recently released I Expect You to Die 3 game.

As for the virtual world TGSVR is creating, it has a magical fantasy theme this year. Its metaverse will feature ‘Game Islands’ that have more than a little similarity to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Attendees can participate in the “Stamp Rally Quest” to collect avatars and spells. They can also visit the Game Tree Theatre where they can view trailers for highly-anticipated games alongside mini live performances.

You don’t actually need a VR headset to explore TGSVR – it supports mobile devices and PCs – but it helps with that sense of scale and immersion.

Additionally, for those attending in person, Capcom revealed last month that the Resident Evil 4 VR Mode for PSVR 2 would be making its debut.
