Nintendo Switch players can get to shaking their maracas to the beat in Samba de Amigo: Party Central starting today. However, alongside this release has come news of the release window for the VR edition of the game, Samba de Amigo: Virtual Party.
Get ready to shake your maracas when Samba de Amigo comes to VR. The colourful and cute SEGA original music rhythm game became a phenomenon when it hit arcades in 1999. It also became one of the best reasons to own a Sega Dreamcast a year later. Now, more than two decades later, an all-new entry in the Samba de Amigo series feels like a natural fit for VR.
Samba de Amigo: Virtual Party will arrive for Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro this autumn. Those who pre-order the game will also receive unique in-game accessories they can use to dress up their Amigo:
- A virtual replica Meta Quest 2 VR headset
- A pair of virtual replica Meta Quest controllers that replace the player’s maracas
Samba de Amigo Party Revival
On the Nintendo Switch, Samba de Amigo: Party Central features 40 hits from some of the world’s most popular genres including EDM, pop, Latin, and more. There’s also a wide variety of minigames and challenges, a ton of unique costumes and accessories to unlock and wear. The VR exclusive Samba de Amigo: Virtual Party is expected to follow this format closely, also having 40 songs confirmed.
Samba de Amigo: Party Central is now available on Nintendo Switch, and Samba de Amigo: Party-To-Go is available now for Apple Arcade subscribers. Samba de Amigo for VR is scheduled to launch on Meta Quest this autumn.
