Enjoy a Horrific Valentines with VR Slasher Be Mine

Meta’s social metaverse Horizon Worlds isn’t attracting as many virtual reality fans as the company would like. So next month it’s throwing some unique content Worlds’ way. Eli Roth, the horror maestro behind films such as Hostel has teamed up with Meta on BE MINE: A VR Valentine’s Slasher.

Premiering on Horizon Worlds on 10th February 2023 at 7 pm, BE MINE: A VR Valentine’s Slasher is a 30-minute experience following Becca, a girl who’s stalked by an anonymous maniac in a Cupid mask. Written by Roth and directed by Adam MacDonald, the short film will support 180° and 360° viewing inside Horizon Worlds’ creepy cabin.

BE MINE: A VR Valentine’s Slasher will feature the acting talents of Peyton List (Cobra Kai), Inanna Sarkis (After We Collided), and Alanna Ubach (Euphoria).

Roth’s VR Return

“I had the most incredible experience making Trick-VR-Treat with Meta, and we wanted to push the experience even further with BE MINE, creating a true narrative experience where you’re at the centre of a slasher film,” says Roth on the Oculus Blog.

“I wrote BE MINE knowing what worked best in VR, but pushing the boundaries with new ideas and techniques, and the results are nothing short of thrilling. We have created a true immersive horror experience. I have been a huge fan of Adam MacDonald for a long time, and what he and the incredible cast brought to life is something unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I think horror fans are going to absolutely love it. Get ready, it’s a bloody good time.”

For those without access to Horizon Worlds, BE MINE: A VR Valentine’s Slasher will also appear on Facebook and Instagram

Horizon Worlds hasn’t been the golden metaverse chalice Meta hoped it would be. Dogged by issues including being roundly mocked by the press for its visuals, the platform still isn’t roundly available to everyone. Currently, Horizon Worlds is only available on Quest 2 and Quest Pro to those over 18 in the US, Canada, the UK, Iceland, Ireland, France, and Spain.
