Actrio Studio has announced a successful conclusion to the Kickstarter campaign for The Great Ocean. The game is the first ocean exploration experience based on real locations, real threats, and real solutions, empowering the players to make a tangible impact on the underwater world through exploration and quests.
The Great Ocean will see players diving into adventure in real world locations. Swim with whales, sharks and sea turtles. Explore the waters, visiting areas like the Galapagos, the Arctic or the Deep Sea. And take on challenges designed to simulate the solving of problems and having real life impact for NGOs that collaborated on the game.
Using a high-tech ROV, players can navigate captivating underwater environments, encounter marine life, and undertake missions to help the ocean ecosystem by freeing fish, removing trash, and addressing crimes against ocean health.
The Great Ocean Kickstarter
Thanks to the support of backers worldwide, the indie game developer and publisher exceeded its initial goal of 15,000 EUR. The total raised was 16,150 EUR, enabling Actrio Studio to fully fund the finishing of the production of the PC VR version for the game.
However, the stretch goals were not reached during the campaign time. Actrio Studio has stated that it will continue to accept finance to reach the stretch goals. Also, Actrio Studio invites VR gamers to join their tester group and wishlist the game on Steam.
No specific release date has yet been announced for The Great Ocean. However, the game is currently listed as ‘coming soon’ on Steam. There’s also no mention of which specific VR headsets will be supported. Though with SteamVR support as standard, you can expect all major headsets will be supported, including HTC Vive, Valve Index and Meta Quest Pro.
