Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue has been scheduled for a 25th May release date on PlayStation VR 2 for a while now. However, there are other VR editions. And it’s now been confirmed by the developer that Hello Neighbor is coming to Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, PC VR and PSVR 2 simultaneously.
This will be the first time the popular horror franchise has made the leap into VR. Original creator tinyBuild has teamed up with virtual reality specialist Steel Wool Studios for the project. The team is well versed in VR thanks to previous titles like Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted and Bounce.
Multiple Search and Rescue
If you’ve not played any of the previous games before the premise is fairly simple. Mixing horror and puzzle mechanics in a family-friendly shell, you’re a kid who has a suspiciously creepy neighbour. The aim is to sneak around his house undetected to see what he’s hiding in his basement.
Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue mixes this gameplay up by adding more characters, with six kids to play as. This means that puzzles can’t be solved by one character alone, switching between each one to unlock new areas.
“You will have to increasingly use your wits to find alternate solutions to a dynamic range of puzzles and challenging environmental obstacles,” the studios explains. “Many puzzles that may seem unsolvable at first glance require you to use the perspectives of multiple characters in conjunction to overcome them.”
Players are encouraged to develop their own approach to infiltrate the house. The gameplay is designed to be non-linear.
As mentioned, Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue is coming to VR devices on Thursday, 25th May 2023. Supporting PSVR 2, Meta Quest 2/Quest Pro and PC VR headsets.
