Just over two years ago Gamedust released Yupitergrad, a puzzle-adventure where hands aren’t required…only grappling hooks. A sequel has been on the cards for a little while now, with the studio finally revealing a launch window and a headset exclusive. Yupitergrad 2: The Lost Station will come to PICO headsets next month as a timed exclusive.
Gamedust has confirmed the Yupitergrad 2: The Lost Station will be available for PICO 4 and Pico Neo 3 in May (the studio hasn’t specified a date yet). This will then be followed by a Meta Quest 2 release. After which a PC VR edition on Steam will arrive. Lastly, Gamedust has mentioned that an HTC Vive XR Elite version is in the works.
Yupitergrad 2 soon swings into action
Just like its predecessor, Yupitergrad 2: The Lost Station focuses on using grappling hooks to navigate a huge space station. This facilitates huge environmental puzzles to solve, as well as nerve-wracking moments where you have to navigate very dangerous obstacles. If you’ve played the first game you’ll know that all sorts of mechanical death traps await, turning one wrong move into instant death.
Those grappling hooks also have boosters on to propel you through water or quickly manoeuvre you out of a dangerous situation.
This time around Yupitergrad 2: The Lost Station introduces a new mechanic: combat. Much, in the same way, Red Matter 2 added some action elements, Yupitergrad 2 allows you to equip weaponry. This is required because this ‘Lost Station’ is crawling with hostile robotic opponents that need eliminating.
You can see all of this in action in the new trailer below. When details arrive regarding how long the timed exclusive will be XR Source will let you know.
