ROTU Entertainment has revealed Ancient Board Games, an immersive tabletop experience. Designed to bring long-lost entertainment to the virtual table, Ancient Board Games will launch on Steam for PC and Meta Quest 2 in 2023. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
Have Historical Fun in Ancient Board Games
In Ancient Board Games, players will experience the diverse cultures of several early civilizations through eight legendary tabletop games. Master ancient games with easy how-to-play instructions, complete with intriguing pieces of historical trivia for each title. Try your hand at Hnefatafl against vikings in 900 A.D., or teleport back thousands of years to 6500 BCE where Sumeria’s The Royal Game of Ur awaits!
All the regular trimmings, such as high score charts and collectables, will be available in the game. Plus, on Meta Quest 2, players will be able to use hand tracking as they go head-to-head against AI or human opponents. Multiplayer will support cross-platform both locally and online.
“Entertainment’s been an essential element of human culture since the dawn of time, with the first known board game, The Royal Game of Ur, dating back to 4,600 years ago!” said Jason Parks, ROTU CEO. “Ancient Board Games aims to open a time capsule and reintroduce titles like The Royal Game of Ur and others from cultures past to the modern audience.”
ROTU Entertainment cites the Nintendo classic series, Clubhouse 51 Games, as the inspiration for this new title. It’s not hard to see why!
More Rhythm of the Universe is Coming…
