There are a lot of decent dark fantasy hack-and-slash games for VR, one of which is Deep Type Games’ Hellsplit: Arena. Originally released for PCVR way back in 2019, the game then arrived for Meta Quest in 2025. Now the studio has revealed its next project, Hellsplit: Labyrinth.

More Hellsplit Action

Hellsplit: Arena purely focuses on action-packed combat and not much else. There is a basic narrative but nothing you’re going to pay attention to. Hellsplit: Labyrinth seems like it wants to create a richer, story-led experience within this same fantasy realm, delivering RPG and roguelike gameplay.

As the store page synopsis explains: “As an elite warrior, you must complete a mission of utmost importance: recover the seven shards of a powerful magical crystal – no matter the cost.” So it’s not just about fighting hordes of monsters and undead foes – although it probably is.

However, apart from the Meta Store page details, there’s not much else to go on.

Hellsplit: Labyrinth Gameplay

Much like its cousin, Hellsplit: Labyrinth is going to be a melee title with lots of sword fighting. The physics and battles are being designed to be realistic, so swords should feel like they have weight and will require more than a quick waggle.

The description does state that a “deep RPG progression system” will be in place to shape your character, and that there will be “8 distinct biomes” in the style of the Hellsplit universe. Interestingly, the story has multiple endings determined by the choices you make, which should add plenty of replayability.

Other parts of the description have been lifted straight from Hellsplit: Arena. Like the fact that Labyrinth will be a “room-scale VR experience” supporting an area of 1.5 x 1.5 meters.

When and Where?

Currently, Hellsplit: Arena fans are going to have to wait for this roguelike RPG. Hellsplit: Labyrinth is slated for a Spring 2027 launch for Meta Quest, with the game appearing on no other storefronts at present.
