Quite frankly, there aren’t enough Transformers games in VR for XRSource’s liking. A couple have appeared over the years, such as the LBE-focused Transformers: VR Invasion or the mobile AR game Transformers: Heavy Metal AR. The most notable of all of these was the PSVR era, Transformers Beyond Reality. Now developer META4 Interactive and publisher Squido Studio have announced Transformers: Beyond Reality Redux for Meta Quest.

Transformers Rise up Again

Originally revealed back in 2021 for PSVR and PC VR, Transformers Beyond Reality had a bumpy start. After a couple of delays and the cancellation of the PC VR version, it eventually hit PSVR in late 2022, followed by a PSVR 2 port.

As with most Transformers games your in a fight against the Decepticons, but you don’t play as an Autobot. Instead, you’re a human in your very own exosuit, equipped with its own armaments to battle the evil Decepticons. This is an on-rails shooter, however, so there’s no freedom to smash through buildings at your leisure. You do have a bunch of upgradable miniguns, beam guns, swords, shields, and laser blasters to hand to fight the likes of Shockwave, Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave.

What’s New in Transformers: Beyond Reality Redux

You’d hope that a port of a 4-5 year old game would have a few new additions. And it does, META4 Interactive has confirmed.

Unfortunately, the studio hasn’t specified what those are! When the game was ported to PSVR 2, it received new visual effects and more than 30 new interactions. Considering this will support both Quest 3/3S and Quest 2, we don’t imagine much in the way of new fidelity over the PSVR 2. So we’ll have to wait and see.

Launch Details

You’ll be pleased to know Transformers: Beyond Reality Redux has a release date for Meta Quest, arriving on 3rd September 2026. And you can wishlist the game here.
