Puzzle Classics Myst & Riven Set for Release on PSVR 2 in May

Myst Riven PSVR-2

Posted on: 07 May 2026

Cyan, the studio behind the award-winning puzzle adventure games Myst and Riven, made a surprise (and welcome announcement this week. The remastered versions of both Myst and Riven are being ported to PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2, set to arrive later this month.

Remakes Come to PlayStation

For the few of you who may be unaware, both of these puzzle classics are very old. The original Myst first arrived for PC in 1993, over 30 years ago! While Riven was the follow-up in the late 90s. Both have become legendary in their own right, but it’s Myst that most gamers remember the most fondly.

And soon it’ll be the turn of PS5 and PSVR 2 players. Cyan remastered them both a few years ago, but this will mark the first time these remastered versions have appeared on PlayStation. Naturally, they have also been further refined for the platform to support both flat-screen and VR modes.

Myst and Riven will support ray-traced reflections (flatscreen mode only and limited to 30 FPS), for example. PS5 Pro owners will see further enhancements such as graphical fidelity, offering better view distance, foliage, textures, post-processing, and shading. Plus, PSVR 2 players on PS5 Pro can enjoy a better base render resolution on both games.

Myst & Riven in VR

This isn’t the first time Myst and Riven have ventured into VR. The remaster of Myst first arrived for Meta Quest and SteamVR way back in 2020. The remaster of Riven then landed in 2024 for both platforms, so the PlayStation editions have been a long time coming.

Launch Details

Both Myst and Riven are set for release on PS5 and PSVR 2 on the same day, 19th May 2026. Both will retail for $34.99 USD each. So you’ve never played either of them, now might be a good time to try.
