If youy’ve been wandering around the halls of VR as long as the XRSource team has, you may remember back in 2017 when seminal racer Wipeout arrived for PSVR. Called the WipEout Omega Collection it brought eye-watering speeds to Sony’s VR headset, and we all loved it. While that franchise has long since faded away, XOCUS is keeping its spirit alive with Omega Pilot Evolution, set to launch in June for Meta Quest and PSVR 2.

What is Omega Pilot Evolution?
Omega Pilot Evolution is a high-speed racing game featuring anti-gravity ships. With no wheels to worry about, it’s all about going as fast as possible, navigating twisting, winding track at extreme speeds.
Supporting both single-player and multiplayer gameplay modes, solo racers can pick and customise their craft before heading out to learn the circuits and set top lap times. But it’s multiplayer where Omega Pilot Evolution hopes most players will gravitate towards to, featuring real-time and asynchronous modes to challenge players on global and friends-only leaderboards.
In true WipEout fashion, there’s also a Combat Racing mode, arming players with an assortment of weapons. From energy blasters to EMPs and shields, players will have to rethink their racing tactics to come out on top. An that matters, as there’s money to be earnt and spent on upgrading your ship’s speed, handling, and durability, as well as liveries.
The Evolution of Omega Pilot
As the name kind of implies, Omega Pilot Evolution isn’t the first racing game in this series. In fact, XOCUS first started out back in 2021 with the release of Z-Race for Meta Quest and SteamVR. This was then followed up with Omega Pilot in 2022 for the same platforms. Both were well received and reasonably successful but never set the VR racing world alight.
So hopefully it’s third time lucky for the Omega Pilot series.
Launch Details
As XRSource has previously reported with its monthly round up of new VR games, Omega Pilot Evolution has been listed for release on PSVR 2 for the last couple of months. That launch window has changed once again, this time with the addition of a new platform. Now, the game is listed on both the Meta Quest Store and PSVR 2 stores for June 2026.
With no specific date just yet for either platform, we’ll wait to see if this slips yet again.
