New Folder Games’ “I Am” games series has proven incredibly popular with gamers on Meta Quest. While this group includes I Am Bird (2025) and I Am Monkey (2025), it’s the original I Am Cat (2024) that still holds the crown. And it’s I Am Cat that’s just had a major update, adding a brand new multiplayer location.

Multiplayer Update

Originally a single-player game where you can run around and cause chaos as a cat, the studio added a multiplayer component in June 2025. So not only could you team up and unleash a whole litter of furry carnage (up to 20 cat-filled lobbies), but you could pounce around dedicated multiplayer levels.

As such, this latest update has been designed specifically for the multiplayer mode. Offering a mysterious new location which the studio hasn’t divulged much about. But it looks very sci-fi themed with floating structures and otherworldly portals.

What’s Next?

The studio also teased its next update. This will be a sun-kissed location called The Beach, specifically for the single-player mode.

Nothing has been shown so far, but XRSource is imagining lots of inflatables, BBQ’s and the ocean to paddle in. Of course, this being I Am Cat, there should be a few beachgoers to annoy too.

I Am Cat Review

Available for both Meta Quest and SteamVR (no mention of those updates for PCVR), our buddies over at 131XR reviewed I Am Cat in 2025 and gave it a glowing recommendation. Finding an enjoyable mix of playful sandbox and more gamer-focused missions, the review found that: “I Am Cat is an entertaining use of VR as an immersive medium.”
