Triangle Factory’s Forefront has gone from strength to strength since its Early Access launch on Meta Quest and SteamVR in late 2025. Having been continually updated since then, today the game has officially been released. And with it, Forefront sees a major new content update.

Forefront 1.0
With the 1.0 version of Forefront now available, Triangle Factory has treated players to a brand new map for the Conquest mode: Clearwater. A mixture of flooded urban development and sprawling landscape, Clearwater offers players new strategic opportunities as they wage war in 32-player battles.
A new map wouldn’t be complete without some new firepower. Recon players are now able to unlock the Combat Bow, the ultimate stealthy killer. At the same time, Engineers can deploy Drones across the battlefield. These have a range of uses, from spotting enemies and transporting medkits to insta-kill gadgets; they’re a versatile battlefield tool.
And then there are the new Field Perks. Every class gets four Field Perks to choose from, unlocked through class progression. They are as follows:
- Assault: Munition Specialist, Grenadier, Demolisher, and Vanguard
- Engineer: Saboteur, Mechanic, Jump Starter, and Flak Jacket
- Medic: Field Medic, Healing Specialist, Combat Readiness, and Scavenger
- Recon: Iron Lungs, Thrifter, Executioner, and Field Scout
For those brand new to Forefront, you’ll want to check out the Training Grounds. Here you can get to grips with the game’s controls, movement, weapons, vehicles, and more.
Lastly, PCVR players can enjoy an array of visual enhancements, most notably Dynamic Lighting. Further graphical upgrades like improved FX will be coming in post-launch updates.
What is Forefront?
Forefront is most easily described as the Battlefield of VR. Matches contain 32 players, 16 aside and then split down into teams of four. Set in expansive, semi-destructive environments, players select from Assault, Engineer, Medic, or Recon classes, each with specialised weapons and attachments. And just like Battlefield, there is a range of helicopters, tanks, Humvees, quad bikes and boats to jump into and use to your advantage.
PSVR 2 Edition
While today’s launch has focused on the Meta Quest and SteamVR versions, Triangle Factory is also planning a PSVR 2 edition. Confirmed a few months ago, the studio has yet to reveal a launch window for Forefront on PSVR 2. With the 1.0 launch now out of the way, hopefully that update will be arriving soon.
