Sandbox strategy games aren’t as prevalent as XRSource would like in VR, as we cast our minds back to the likes of Final Assault – although Crystal Commanders is worth a mention. Thankfully, that looks to change in 2026, with Globiss Interactive unveiling Battle Beyond The Wall for Meta Quest.

Let Battle Commence!

Battle Beyond The Wall is a multiplayer-focused real-time strategy (RTS) set in what looks to be the early 20th century (around the time of WWI). Supporting both player versus player (PvP) and player versus environment (PvE) modes, the PvP allows up to three players to wage war against one another.

The idea is that you each have time to build and customise your armies, buying tanks, planes and troops depending on your strategy. Then, a wall separating each army drops (hence the name), and battle begins. The ultimate goal is to eliminate the enemy king, whilst ensuring your defences hold and you don’t perish.

What to Expect

Comprising big open worlds filled with villages, bridges and the sort of environmental details you’d expect of central Europe, you can command troops as well as enter the battle yourself.

From the safety of your castle stronghold, you can deploy troops, request reinforcements, and direct them however you see fit. Or, you can get your hands dirty on the frontline. Grab a rifle and take out enemy emplacements, jump into a plane to attack from the skies, and sit behind the controls of a tank to blast your way to victory.

Furthermore, you don’t need to be a one-person warmachine. You can easily team up with friends, combining resources and tactics to claim ultimate victory.

Hopefully, it doesn’t sink

Battle Beyond The Wall looks like it has a lot of potential, with a varied amount of gameplay. There’s not too long to wait either, as it’s currently slated for release on Meta Quest in June 2026.

However, Globiss Interactive’s last VR game was Titanic: A Space Between, which also showed promise. Unfortunately, while there were elements that were good, the entire experience ultimately fell flat and wasn’t supported post-launch. Hopefully, Battle Beyond The Wall won’t suffer the same outcome; we’ll have to wait and see.
