Escape room games form an interesting part of the VR ecosystem, delivering immersive puzzle experiences for all player types. Whether you’re after more family-friendly titles or something more complex, there’s a huge range available. This summer will see that selection expand even further with the addition of psychological thriller, Dagger Woods VR.

The Dagger Woods Story

Dagger Woods VR has been inspired by the true events and legends of Nova Scotia, Canada.

As the synopsis explains: “Set in the snow-laden Dagger Woods in 1960s Nova Scotia, the story follows Maggie Carmichael, a single mother whose three children mysteriously vanish. Maggie begins to suspect that her children’s disappearance is connected to previous historical events that link her case to the infamous unsolved case of Mary-Ellen MacDonald and the fires of Caledonia Mills, NS, in 1922.”

As Maggie, players venture deep into the woods, only to find the Hidey-Hinder, the Dagger Woods Howler.

Dagger Woods Gameplay

As mentioned, this is an escape room-style VR game. The dark tale will offer players a branching narrative as they solve the ever-more intricate puzzles before them. They’ll need to explore and search every inch of their surroundings that’ll hold clues to progress, as well as the unfolding mystery, via documents, artefacts, and newspaper clippings.

Beware, though, as this is a psychological thriller, you’ll hear whispers and see visions, clouding what’s nreal and what’s not.
