The rhythm-action genre might have passed its VR heyday, but that doesn’t mean to say it’s not still popular. PSVR 2 players have been able to enjoy Parallel Circles’ Beat the Beats since 2024, great if you’re looking for a Beat Saber alternative. Soon, it’ll be the turn of Meta Quest, with Beat the Beats arriving in Spring 2026.

Feel the Beat

Whether you prefer Beat Saber, Synth Riders, Smash Drums, Ragnarock or one of the many other rhythm-action games out there, there’s definitely one to suit all tastes.

As the name implies, Beat the Beats leans into the boxing side of the genre. You can smack neon blocks that fly at you, put your arms up to block others and generally work up a sweat using jabs, uppercuts, and crosses. All of this is timed to energetic electronic music, with global leaderboards to climb and daily challenges to beat.

Keep up the good work, and you’ll unlock new genres and B-sides to expand the gameplay further.

Launch Details

As mentioned, Beat the Beats is currently listed on the Horizon Store for “Spring 2026” on Meta Quest. Realistically, that’s not too far away, plus there’s a pre-order discount if you buy now. Furthermore, there’s a demo already available if you want to test the game today.

It’s also worth mentioning that Beat the Beats is listed on Steam, too. No release window on that edition, but similarly, there’s a free demo if you want to give it a pop.

Working a Rhythmic Sweat

Rhythm games were hugely popular around 2019, with a new one seemingly popping up each month. While that tidal wave has subsided, the fact that they offer some of the best immersive VR experiences has not diminished. They’re easy to pick up, highly engrossing, and if you put the effort in on the higher levels, a great workout.

Here are some of XRSource’s favourite VR Dance & Rhythm Games available now, give them a try.
