Scroll through streaming platforms like Netflix, and you’ll see true crime recommendations galore. Viewers are fascinated by these horrors, the grizzlier the better it seems, detailing motives, crime scenes and more. But what you see is the aftermath. What would happen if you were there, actually hired to clean and ensure no incriminating details were left? That’s the job of The Evidence Cleaner, coming soon to Meta Quest.

Hide the Evidence

You may already be familiar with the darkly comical Hide The Corpse where you have to hide a body somewhere the cops won’t find. The Evidence Cleaner is the polar opposite of that. Dark, gritty, and far more realistic, you step into the role of a professional crime scene cleaner working for a powerful underground syndicate. Your very specific job is to make problems disappear.

That means getting some rubber gloves, heavy-duty trash bags and a lot of cleaning fluid and getting to work. But you don’t have all day or night, murders are noisy, neighbours get suspicious, and that’s when police come knocking.

Gameplay

Created specifically for VR by Titanz Games, the gameplay in The Evidence Cleaner is designed to be physical. You’ll need to scrub stains off the floors and walls, zip up and move heavy body bags ready to be thrown in furnaces and dumpsters. And you’ll need to use your UV scanner to reveal hidden blood and fingerprints; even the smallest amount of evidence left behind can cause a problem.

The studio even states that there are “No buttons. No shortcuts. Just you and the mess.” Sounds like there’s no quick fix, just a lot of gruesome cleaning to do.

Launch Details

The Evidence Cleaner is currently slated to arrive for Meta Quest this Spring, with no firm release date just yet. Pre-orders are already open, offering a discount to early adopters.
