ULTRASHOT: Kill Protocol VR has been revealed for PSVR2, bringing the popular Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 FPS to VR. The game is being developed by CGI LAB SRL and is designed to place you directly into high-intensity combat scenarios with a mix of reflex-based gunplay and tactical engagement.

ULTRASHOT: Kill Protocol for VR
In this VR adaptation, you’ll assume the role of a lone operative navigating a world in crisis. The environment is increasingly hostile with threats that grow more aggressive and unpredictable as missions progress. Combat encounters task you with clearing zones filled with enemies using precision shooting and situational awareness. You’ll never know where the enemies might be coming from.
You’ll also face boss encounters that require careful focus to overcome. The PlayStation Store listing emphasises immersion and direct engagement over passive viewing. This underscores the developer’s intent to leverage VR’s motion-based systems to create a more embodied shooter experience.
Gameplay and Combat Structure
Unlike the flatscreen editions of the game, where aiming and movement are tied to sticks and buttons, the VR version of ULTRASHOT: Kill Protocol places you physically in the line of fire. Head movement, hand-controlled aiming and situational awareness are key components of play. You’ll be expected to track enemies in three-dimensional space. Physically turn to face threats and utilise the motion controllers’ tracking for targeting and firing. The combination of positional movement and aiming is a core part of VR design, aligning with many other VR shooters.
The narrative frames you as an operative on a mission that “cannot fail”, suggesting a gameplay loop rooted in escalating combat challenges. As missions progress you’ll move deeper into chaotic environments where enemy behaviour scales in difficulty.
Previous Versions
The VR version of ULTRASHOT: Kill Protocol expands on the flatscreen edition, which launched on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in August 2025. Those versions offer a first-person action experience built around combat and exploration, which sounds like good fodder for a VR adaptation.
While the PS5 and Switch versions focus on traditional first-person shooter mechanics for flatscreen play, the VR adaptation reworks these systems for interaction on PSVR2, taking advantage of motion controls and immersive perspectives.
Of course, as you have undoubtedly noticed in the screenshots included on this page, ULTRASHOT: Kill Protocol VR features a unique aesthetic. The low-poly design reinforces the game’s suitability for a VR adaptation, given the higher processing demands of VR gameplay.

ULTRASHOT: Kill Protocol VR for PSVR2
ULTRASHOT: Kill Protocol VR is still a long way off, with a 2027 launch date currently listed. The game will join many other VR shooters on PSVR2 that aim to translate traditional first-person action into immersive, motion-based interaction.
