The VR release calendar for early 2026 is starting to take shape, and one of the most intriguing additions is SkyLeap. A new immersive experience now set to launch in February, if you’re getting Mirror’s Edge vibes from the game you’re probably not a million miles away.

What is SkyLeap?
A VR exclusive, SkyLeap is focused on vertical exploration, aerial traversal, and physics-driven movement. The game’s movement systems present you with the ability to leap, glide, and maneuver through expansive skybound environments.
Rather than relying solely on traditional joystick movement, SkyLeap emphasizes body-led interaction. The game encourages you to physically lean, reach, and gesture as you navigate floating platforms, airborne pathways, and suspended structures. This aligns with a broader shift toward more embodied VR experiences, where physical motion plays a central role in gameplay. Last year’s Reach being a prime example.
A Timely February Release
February has increasingly become a strategic launch window for VR games, sitting comfortably between the holiday hardware rush and the packed spring release season. SkyLeap’s arrival during this period could help it stand out, particularly as headset adoption continues to grow.
The game is currently listed for launch on Meta Quest. It will be compatible with Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 3S, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro. The game is also coming to PSVR 2, but with no release date at present.

SkyLeap is a Big Jump for VR
Beyond its immediate gameplay appeal, SkyLeap represents a growing trend within XR development: designing around movement confidence. Verticality and aerial traversal have traditionally been challenging in VR due to comfort concerns, but newer locomotion techniques and player-centric comfort settings are enabling developers to push these boundaries.
If SkyLeap succeeds in balancing exhilaration with accessibility, it could serve as a valuable reference point for future XR titles exploring similar mechanics. Its emphasis on spatial awareness, depth perception, and kinetic flow highlights what immersive technology does best: placing the user directly inside the experience rather than merely in control of it.
February’s Release Line-Up
As February approaches, more concrete details around SkyLeap specific launch date are expected to emerge. As always, XRSource will keep you posted on the full release schedule for the month, as we did for January earlier this month.
