If you’re a PSVR 2 owner, the release schedule for January does not make for enjoyable reading. Thankfully, there is one ray of light (or should that be darkness) if you’re a horror fan. Steelkrill Studio has announced that Trenches VR is coming to PSVR 2 this month.

Trenches VR on PSVR 2
After its simultaneous launch on Meta Quest and SteamVR back in October, Trenches VR will be available for PSVR 2 on 20th January 2026. It’ll retail for €14.99 EUR/£9.99 GBP on the PlayStation Store.
From what we can tell, this seems to be a straight port onto PSVR 2. Neither Steelkrill Studio nor publisher Perp Games have mentioned its specific features like headset haptics or eye-tracked foveated rendering.
What is Trenches VR?
Set during WW1, Trenches VR has you exploring those infamous trenches. But that’s about as much as the game is connected to that ear. Because the game is more of a survival horror, with one giant monster roaming around trying to kill you.
With no weapons to speak of, all you really have to survive is your trench whistle, which can help lead you out of this hellish nightmare. Unfortunately, the whistle will also attract the ravenous creature you’re trying to avoid, so it must be used cautiously.
With a claustrophobic, shifting maze to navigate, this is no easy task, as any noise can alert the monster. Clues can be found hidden around the trenches to help with the escape, whilst noisy diversion tactics are used to throw the enemy off your scent.
Trenches VR Review
The folks over at 131XR reviewed the Meta Quest edition of Trenches VR at launch. The team found that while the premise was good and so was the atmosphere, the game leaned too heavily into tired jump scares. There were other issues too, which you can learn more about in the review below.
Hopefully, some of these will have been fixed for the PSVR 2 release.
