Gun X has seen renewed attention recently. This is largely due to updates rolling out on the Meta Quest platform and ongoing community activity. The game has been available on Meta Quest since mid-2025 and has continued to receive incremental improvements and new features. This concentrated post-launch support appears to be driving enthusiasm in VR shooter communities.

New Gun X Update Introduces Co-op Mode

One of the most notable additions in the recent update is the activation of online co-operative play for Gun X. This allows players to team up with a friend and tackle combat scenarios together. Co-op support in Gun X represents a meaningful shift in how the game can be experienced, encouraging social gameplay and teamwork in both PvE and, potentially, PvP contexts.

Alongside co-op, Meta Achievements have been added in the Alpha build. These Achievements provide in-game milestones that players can unlock and track, offering additional progression incentives beyond core gameplay loops. As Gun X has been continuously updated since launch, there are several other features that have also been tweaked.

Fixes and Improvements

In parallel with new co-op gameplay mode, the Gun X update includes a set of bug fixes and minor improvements intended to improve gameplay stability. For example, adjustments such as refined magazine insertion animations and other smoothing tweaks.

Because these features are being distributed via the Alpha channel on Meta Quest, they may not yet be visible to all players in the standard release version. The developer, Irusu Studios, appears to be using the Alpha branch to gather feedback and refine features before integrating them into the broader release.

Gun X: Lock and Load Ongoing Development and Platform Plans

The most recent Gun X update bringing co-operative play to the game, combined with ongoing community testing and visibility on social platforms, have contributed to a noticeable uptick in interest for Gun X. These features are still rolling out in Alpha. When Irusu Studios offer wider player access, this may further influence the game’s popularity metrics in the coming weeks.

Gun X is also anticipated to expand to other platforms beyond Meta Quest. A SteamVR version with enhanced graphics has been discussed by the developer community, although details such as release dates and additional features are still pending.
