VR publisher and development studio HyperVR announced that Shop & Stuff will be coming soon to PSVR 2. The game places you in charge of a virtual supermarket and tasks you to restock shelves, manage customers and respond to dynamic in-game events. The announcement that the title is coming soon to PSVR 2 was highlighted alongside a recent content update for the existing Meta Quest version.
Gameplay Overview
On Meta Quest platforms, the game’s core design centres on supermarket application and simulation. But with a comical take, of course. You’ll be responsible for daily tasks such as restocking products, handling checkout stations, and dealing with customer behaviours that range from routine to unpredictable.
You’ll start small in a roadside mini-market and hustle your way up the chain. Along with the more mundane tasks, you’ll need to be sure to chase off shoplifters, fix glitchy self-checkouts and clean up unexpected messes to make it through each day.
Shop & Stuff for PSVR 2
Alongside the announcement of the PSVR 2 version comes an official PlayStation Store listing. Shop & Stuff is marked as a PlayStation 5 game that “requires PlayStation VR2 hardware and PS VR2 Sense controllers”, making it clear that the port is designed specifically for VR.
This is of course unsurprising, as Shop & Stuff has thus far only been released on VR platforms. In particular, it’s the Meat Quest edition of the game which has seen the most success. As stated above, this edition has recently received a significant update.
Meta Quest Update
The recent Shop & Stuff update introduces a character referred to as The Boss. This expands the simulation by adding an interactive manager figure intended to guide you through onboarding and introduce new gameplay dynamics.
The game’s layout has been updated to include the Boss’s Office. To unlock the office, simply upgrade the store to the second level in the purchasing machine. Other than guiding you through the tutorials, the boss will “encourage” you to work faster, maximising the profitability of the store. For that, he’ll point out things that you should take care of throughout the day. It’s your call to obey him, or ignore him entirely and do things your way.
Shop & Stuff PSVR 2 Launch Details
At the time of writing, the store lists the Shop & Stuff’s PSVR 2 compatibility. However, it does not yet specify a release date or price. While the announcement that Shop & Stuff will arrive on PSVR2 has been confirmed in press and community reports, the phrase “coming soon” indicates that the launch window remains undefined. This is typical for many platform ports that enter certification or scheduling phases prior to a formal store release.
