Some great VR horror games have arrived in 2025, with the likes of Memoreum, BlackGate, and Scared by Squares all worth a look. And it looks like we won’t have long to wait in 2026, with developer KUKRGAME and publisher Level Infinite confirming the arrival of Dread Meridian for Meta Quest and SteamVR.

What is Dread Meridian?

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness”, Dread Meridian takes place in the frozen wasteland of Oglanbyen. A survival horror, you take on the role of Daniela, a researcher who ventures to a remote arctic island in search of her missing twin sister, Isabella. Naturally, you encounter all sorts of monstrosities along the way, while scavenging for resources and solving puzzles.

The game is action-oriented; this isn’t survival by stealth. You’ll be able to find weapons and ammo to give yourself a fighting chance. Your gear can be customised with salvaged parts, giving the game that Resident Evil feel.

Dread Meridian’s listing does highlight a co-op feature without going into specifics, so you might be able to bring a friend to help. Even more interesting, KUKRGAME has confirmed that there will be a multiplayer mode, where four players are split into teams of two. One team are human and has to try and escape. The other team are monsters, and needs to kill them using their special abilities.

Launch Details

Dread Meridian is currently slated for launch on Meta Quest and SteamVR in January 2026. As yet, we don’t have a specific release date, but KUKRGAME and Level Infinite have opened pre-orders on Meta Quest. If you choose to do so, you’ll get a 15% discount off the regular price and exclusive in-game skins for your guns.

There’s no such offer available on Steam. However, you’ll just have to make do with playing a free demo instead, shucks.
