It’s been a while since a karting game has joined the racing ranks on Meta Quest. The last of note was VRMonkey’s Galaxy Kart in 2024. Soon, however, racing fans will be able to get behind the wheel of Boom Karts by Zaibatsu Interactive, coming to Meta Quest headsets next month.

From Mobile to VR
Boom Karts started life on mobile devices, originally released for iOS and Android in 2021. A free-to-play game, it has become highly popular since launch, with high rates on both platforms and over 5m+ downloads on Android.
Soon, it’ll be the turn of Meta Quest owners. And better yet, it’ll support cross-platform multiplayer, making millions of racers available!
“We wanted to bring Boom Karts to VR because it’s the most fun way to experience the chaos of multiplayer kart racing,” said Zaibatsu Interactive Senior Producer K1-dev, in a statement. When you feel every drift and crash around you, it’s pure energy”.
Karting with a BOOM!
A multiplayer-only racer designed for quick pick-up-and-play sessions, Boom Karts features customizable characters and cars, plenty of maps and unlockable content. There is a range of gameplay modes available, including ranked league and ranked matches, adventure mode, quests, objectives, boom pass, and more.
Races will be familiar to karting pros, being able to drift around corners, launch boosts, pick up power-ups and lay traps to sabotage rivals. As you progress further, you can unlock upgradable kart parts and experiment with new paint jobs.
Furthermore, Zaibatsu Interactive has added some additional elements to the VR version of Boom Karts. You now have the ability to play in theatre mode, create game-specific friend lists, and Teams – groups of players working together to unlock special rewards and upgrades. Meta Quest players can also choose between one or two-handed control schemes or even use a USB controller.
Launch Details
Boom Karts will be released for Meta Quest headsets on 11th December 2025 for free. That’s correct, it’ll remain a F2P title just like its mobile cousin.
