Tracked: Shoot to Survive Review: Survival of the Smartest

TRACKED: Shoot to Survive keyart

Posted on: 13 Nov 2025

There are some awesome survival VR games available, each with its own positives and negatives. The latest to arrive from People Can Fly and Incuvo is Tracked: Shoot to Survive. Set in the Canadian wilderness, the plucky folks at 131XR got to review Tracked: Shoot to Survive prior to launch, finding plenty to like, even if the gameplay doesn’t quite live up to the name.

Surviving Canada

Like any good survival game, you don’t find yourself trying to delay death in a supermarket or on a nice, sun-kissed beach. While Incuvo’s last adventure, Green Hell VR, took players to the Amazon rainforest, in Tracked: Shoot to Survive, you’re now exploring the forboding Canadian wilderness.

It’s a landscape your character knows, having visited as a child with your father. However, on the way up there to look for your sister, your plane crashes, leaving you with the bare minimum. Utilising those lessons your father taught you, and the handy family cabin, you need to find your sister and make it out alive.

Tracked: Shoot to Survive Review

Diving straight into the review of Tracked: Shoot to Survive, 131XR finds a game firmly focused on exploration, crafting and general survival, as you might expect. However, with a name like Shoot to Survive’ you also might expect a heavy reliance on weapons and shooting stuff. But it seems that’s not quite the case.

While Tracked: Shoot to Survive does have weaponry and occasions where it’s rightly needed, on the tier of things the gameplay revolves around, it’s further down the list. 131XR says that Incuvo has created a rich world to explore, exclusive to Meta Quest 3 & 3S. You’ll be able to craft all manner of useful items, even your own bullets.

But no survival game is without its flaws, it seems. Only minor blemishes, but there were times when putting things into the backpack wouldn’t work or swapping items between hands didn’t either. Check out the full review below and see what you think.

Tracking Forward

Considering Incuvo’s track record with games like Green Hell VR, we’d expect to see Tracked: Shoot to Survive continually supported in the months to come. Hopefully, starting with a few of those minor issues 131XR mentioned, it’ll be interesting to see how the team plans on expanding the adventure.
